Full Body Evaluation
Healing In Motion's treatment approach is based on a thorough movement analysis and postural evaluation. We assess the body as a three-dimensional structure. This type of full-body assessment often isolates the cause of your problem, not just the symptoms. For example, two different people with the same type of neck or back pain often have very different mechanical problems that need different types of treatment.

Manual Therapy
Physical Therapy includes advanced manual therapy techniques. Typically, your evaluation will reveal areas of your body that are tight and restricted. If so, the Physical Therapist at Healing In Motion will utilize manual therapy to specifically mobilize these areas in your muscles, joints, and connective tissue. You will learn how to do this at home as well, in order to continue the treatment for the rest of your life! It is your body, we will teach you how to care for it.
Some of the techniques that may be used, if they are appropriate for your individual needs are:

Physical Therapy = Putting It All Together:
The goal of all therapy is that you will learn to take care of your own body. We will teach you simple and effective exercises and self-treatment techniques that can be done in your own home, office, or 'on the road'. Your consistency increases the success of your treatments. What will it feel like when you learn that you will be in control of your pain, instead of your pain controlling you?
Many patients find that their injury resolution is often the catalyst for getting involved in the Wellness Program to continue the gains made during Physical Therapy and to continue to progress – for life. At Healing In Motion we are able to continue with an advanced program under our Massage and Personal Training certifications. You get the years of experience of advanced Physical Therapy for one on one, hour long sessions under our Wellness Program.
Requirements:
Michigan State law requires an MD, DO, or Dentist referral for Physical Therapy.
Insurance for Physical Therapy:
Healing In Motion is a Participating Provider for Medicare – treatments are billed directly to Medicare, there is no money paid at the time of service by the patient.
All other therapy is delivered 'fee for service'. The patient pays at the time of service, at a reduced rate from local clinics, as we do not have the overhead incurred with the billing process in traditional outpatient Physical Therapy clinics.
Fee for Service patients will have a receipt for services, which can be submitted to their insurance for reimbursement directly to the patient. It is the patients' responsibility to inquire with their insurance policy regarding what the reimbursement rate will be. All Physical Therapy at Healing In Motion is considered "out of network" for all insurance programs (except Medicare).
Why Fee For Service? This allows us to charge a reasonable rate and provide care for those who have exhausted their insurance benefits but still require advanced care. Insurance dictates the number of visits you can receive, and pays the therapist less than an average massage therapist charges. We believe that Physical Therapy is needed for those who don't fit the typical insurance patient, and will work with you to provide treatments that are designed to get YOU back to health.
Also, some difficulties, such as incontinence, are not covered under insurance at all. We can help. See our Women's Health section to discover more about how Physical Therapy can help with incontinence, infertility, pelvic pain and dysfunction.
Wellness: Massage Therapy and Personal Training
This is not covered by most insurance plans. We do not bill insurances for our Myofascial Release therapy as done under our Wellness Program. However, this is a more cost-effective way to receive Advanced Myofascial Release and specific exercises.
Please note: Direct spinal manipulation and internal pelvic techniques are not allowed by law under Massage Therapy. These techniques must be done under our Physical Therapy program in accordance with Michigan Law. We understand that this is to protect the patient and ensure a high quality of training. We are pleased to have advanced internal training and spinal techniques available through our Physical Therapy program.
Healing In Motion has an identification number with BCBS of Michigan as a 'non-participating' provider.
