Lisa Wiley, OT
Lisa graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2001 with a Bachelors of Science. Since that time she has worked in many different settings, accumulating knowledge of not only treatment techniques but also how rehabilitation relates to the person. She became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2008 following the completion of over 5,000 hours of documented treatment of the upper extremity and passing the Hand Therapy Certification Commission exam.
She also has a background in lymphedema. Primarily treating individuals following medical intervention for breast cancer. She has also treated lymphedema for the lower extremity. Recently, she started on her journey using John F. Barnes PT Myofascial release in conjunction with her other treatment techniques. Her background in orthopedic, neurological disorders, lymphedema and myofascial release treatment has given her a “tool box” of powerful and effective tools.
Recently she has put together a DVD for Tennis Elbow. She wanted to give those suffering with this condition a review of modifications to daily tasks in regards the tennis elbow and a home exercise program. It is released as “Bare Bones Therapy, Treatment for Elbow Pain,” with the premise that people can take care of themselves and are responsible for their recovery. Lisa believes that having a home exercise program and modifications to daily activities that aggravate symptoms are key to recovery. Her skills as an occupational therapist can return people to activities that “occupy” their time.
